“Beyond Zen”

Dr. Katherine Paul’s new book, Beyond Zen: Japanese Buddhism Revealed, was published this summer. Coauthored with Dr. Ikumi Kaminishi, it is an extensive catalogue and analysis of Japanese Buddhist arts at the Newark (N.J.) Museum of Art. The final section out of eight is dedicated to "Tea Aesthetics and Implements.” Dr. Paul is currently the Curator of Asian Arts at the Birmingham Museum of Art in Alabama. She is also a member of the Urasenke Birmingham Association. We call her, dearly, “Katie.”
